Windsor Castle

Windsor is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and the Official Residence of Her Majesty the Queen, with a rich history spanning almost 1,000 years. The Castle covers an area of about 5 hectares (13 acres) and contains magnificent State Apartments furnished with treasures from the Royal Collection, St George's Chapel (one of the most beautiful ecclesiastical buildings in England and the burial place of 10 monarchs), and Queen Mary's Dolls House, a miniature masterpiece.

Virginia Water

First dammed and flooded in 1753, Virginia Water was, until the creation of the great reservoirs, the largest man-made body of water in the British Isles. The woodlands surrounding the lake have been continuously planted since the middle of the eighteenth century, and The Frost Farm Plantation, at the south-western end of the lake, is a designated SSI (Site of Special Interest) thanks to its maturity and biodiversity.

Ascot Races and Royal Ascot

The famed Ascot Racecourse is one of the leading racecourses in the UK, hosting 9 of the UK's 32 annual Group 1 races. Ascot stages twenty-five days of racing throughout the year, including sixteen meetings held in the months of May and October.

The Royal Meeting, held in June, is the 'must do' event of the summer social calendar. Steeped in tradition, Royal Ascot attracts over 300,000 racegoers each year to enjoy five days of the finest horseracing, pageantry and fashion. Royal Ascot will be held in 2010 from Tuesday 15th June to Saturday 19th June.

Windsor Races

Experience the unique blend of royal heritage and intimate atmosphere that is Royal Windsor Racecourse. The first race meeting was held at Royal Windsor in 1866, and has played host to 'the sport of Kings' (and Queens) ever since. With Monday night racing in summer and an action-packed calendar of racing, it's the perfect place to take a punt.

Polo

Discover the favourite sport of the nobility with the pomp and circumstance of a polo match at nearby venues including Guards Polo Club and RCB Polo Club. Dorney Lake

Dorney Lake is a world-class rowing and canoeing centre set in spectacular 400-acre parkland near Windsor. In fact, it will be hosting these very events during the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Egham Royal Show

The weekend event is held during the summer and features children's rides and entertainment, music, horticultural and craft stalls. The 2009 Show played host to a Real Ale and Cider festival, gourmet food stalls, a steam engine display and a classic car display.
